Here's a brand new b/w illustration I just sketched for last week's Illustration Friday theme - Underwater. Drawn in pencil / photoshop. Titled: Little Champ, of Lake Champlain, by Christine Mix, copyright 2013. I believe there's a story in the making here... hummm. Either way, it needs some tweaking and I plan on painting this in watercolor - someday soon. It's good to be jumping back in again - after the last few months, which included my mother's passing, and my own bad abscess tooth. My mother was and will always be a great and loving inpsiration to me. Being a women who loved the sea, as much as the mountains and lakes of Vermont, along with the magic of stories, I know she'd appreciate Champ. Thanks for everyone's patience and support through it all and stay tuned...

This is a watercolor/gouache image I painted originally for an Illustration Friday theme a month or so ago, (above). It was a quicky at the time and now I'm finally working on the revisions - I think I'll be calling it Lion Magic.. I've been painting the revision of my Jack and the Beanstalk illo I did for IF a few weeks back. I'm posting the original version scanned, (bottom image) along with a couple of other versions where I've been playing around in photoshop on color value for the beanstalk, before I move on. I'm planning to do this whole image in water color/ gouache, but, I may also take my wacom tablet out and play around as well.... humm - either way, I still have lot's more details to add with leaves, Jack, whispy clouds and stars... fairies,... etc... A good thing to do on a cold rainy day. Happy art to all!. (The 1st version original color study and the original sketch for this image are posted below in last weeks blog. )
